Quiet, dedicated teacher with a sense of fun...

Cheryl was quiet and dedicated to the students, but that didn't stop her from having a sense of fun!

She would visit the Phlebotomy Program's "Open Draws" and let the students practice on her.

One time, I asked her to share her experience with the camera.

Her first response was perhaps, a tad demure...

...Moments later, she was joined by Sean Marushia and
together they made their opinion of fingersticks very clear!

...We will miss Cheryl's dedication to students, openness with colleagues and her sense of humor...

  1. I had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl several days a week for a regular drive to chemotherapy appointments and back. Throughout the summer, her spitfire personality and boisterous sense of humor made the time spent an absolute joy.

I still stand in awe of her strength, dedication and stubbornness. The fact that she still continued to work through chemotherapy and exhaustion was nothing short of amazing

In short, I can't even begin to describe the immense amount of awesome that this woman was made of, but I'm glad I got meet her. I'm grateful for the time I spent, the conversations we had, and the memories of her I'll take with me throughout my lifetime.

    Memories of fuchsia lipstick
    A sassy attitude
and, above all, the solid strength to keep fighting to the end.

    You will be missed.

  2. I loved Cheryl for many reasons. Her straightforwardness was refreshing. Her concern for and dedication to her students and the field were admirable. And her positive attitude and humor in the face of great pain and failing health was inspirational. I miss you, Cheryl.

  3. Cheryl was always a little spitfire. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. We always talked about our kids. She loved her boys. We she moved in with them up in Snohomish I would joke with her about moving in with them and she would say, "This way I don't have to worry about kicking them out....I can always move out". I would tell her the commute was going to kill her and she would say if living with them doesn't kill me first. We both would laugh! She loved every minute being with her boys. She was a tough old bird to the end. She will be deeply missed by everyone at the college including the students.
    Love you Cheryl

  4. We, Cheryl's family would like to thank all of you for your kind words. We are still trying to make sense of her being gone. I was so lucky to have had her in my life for the last 11 years. Cheryl was a wonderful mother in law, she was smart, sweet, sassy, stubborn, strong, fiercely independent, and she loved her kids and grand kids more then life itself. She raised 2 amazing boys and spoiled her grand kids every chance she got! I wish that we could have all had more time with her, but we will be sure that her memory lives on forever. We will always miss you Cheryl!
